Since 2013, the Reconstruction Support Festival has been held with the participation of many organizations sharing the same vision. Under the themes of “Living Together,” “Reconstruction,” and “A Nuclear-Free Society,” the festival has fostered ongoing connections, created new encounters and reunions, and expanded networks among people. Building on these connections and as an important initiative to create new relationships, we are proud to present the “East Japan Earthquake & Reconstruction Festival – Together We Live! 2025.”
In the spirit of reconstruction, citizens from Tohoku and Kanagawa will gather in Yokohama to exchange ideas, strengthen solidarity, and envision the future together. The festival will also serve as an opportunity to share citizen-led initiatives for new community development and to promote the creation of a society where citizens play an active, participatory role.

Wakame Throwing (Children’s Event)

This popular event, always a favorite, is held in cooperation with the Shigeo Fisheries Cooperative, which was severely affected by the tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Children will receive wakame seaweed grown in the clear waters of Sanryo, along with our hopes for reconstruction. This year’s event is for children only.

AWS A Cappella Project
The general incorporated association “Always With Smile”, founded by Yoichi Kitayama—also known as a member of The Gospellers—was established mainly by students with a strong desire to make a difference and contribute through singing and a cappella. The organization was launched in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake and carries out regular visits to Kesennuma and Onagawa, as well as a cappella performances at junior high schools and care facilities in the Tokyo metropolitan area.

St. Cecilia Girls’ Junior & Senior High School Chorus
The chorus performs at school and local events, serving as the school choir. Since the earthquake, the school has continued its support for Tohoku through the Umineko-san project in Onagawa. Today, the students will sing with even greater heartfelt spirit to send their cheers and encouragement to everyone.
